Questions Every Bride Should Ask Her Photographer | FAQ | Arlington Heights Wedding Photographer

Updated: 49 minutes ago

Choosing your wedding photographer isn’t just about loving someone’s photos—it’s about trusting the person who will be with you through one of the most meaningful days of your life.

Brides often tell me they’re not sure what questions to ask when booking a photographer, so I’ve answered the most important ones here to help you feel confident in your decision.

Is our wedding date available?

Availability is the first place to start. Wedding photographers typically book 9–15 months in advance, especially for popular seasons. Once your venue and date are secured, reach out to inquire with me as soon as possible.

How would you describe your photography style?

My photo editing style is natural, true to life, and timeless. In approaching photography on your wedding day, I focus on documenting your day as it organically unfolds—real emotions, genuine connections, and meaningful moments—while stepping in with gentle guidance when needed. I believe your photos should feel like you, not overly posed or forced, and should still feel beautiful decades from now.

How much experience do you have photographing weddings?

I've been photographing weddings for 8 years. Experience matters—not just for beautiful images, but for handling timelines, lighting changes, family dynamics, and unexpected moments calmly and professionally. I come prepared for every wedding day so you can relax knowing your memories are in good hands.

Have you photographed weddings at our venue before?

Depending on your venue, it is possible that I am already familiar with it. While it’s always helpful to be familiar with a venue, a professional photographer should know how to navigate and be prepared for any lighting / layout situation in order to create beautiful images. I approach every wedding with fresh eyes, scout locations thoughtfully, and adapt quickly so your photos reflect your day beautifully—no matter the venue.

Will you be the one photographing our wedding?

Yes. When you book with me, you’re working directly with me from start to finish. From our first conversation through your wedding day and final gallery delivery, I’m personally involved every step of the way.

Do you work with a second photographer?

Second photographers are available in certain packages and as an add-on and often recommended for:

  • larger guest counts

  • multiple getting-ready locations

  • fuller coverage of cocktail hour

Second photographers allow for more perspectives and help cover fast-paced parts of the day.

How do you help couples feel comfortable in front of the camera?

Almost every couple tells me they’re nervous about being photographed—and almost every couple is surprised by how relaxed it feels.

I guide you with easy prompts and natural movement so nothing feels stiff or awkward. You don’t need to know how to pose; my job is to help you feel comfortable and confident.

Pro tip: An engagement session is a great way to warm up for the wedding day and feel more comfortable in front of the camera.

How many photos will we receive, and how are they delivered?

You’ll receive hundreds of professionally edited images that tell the complete story of your wedding day. There is no limit put on how many will be in your gallery. On average, I would estimate delivery of 50-100 photos per hour. Every wedding is different and there is variability in the number delivered depending on what is taking place. Your gallery is delivered online, making it easy to download and share with loved ones. Every image is carefully selected and edited for consistency, color, and timeless quality.

How long does it take to get our wedding photos back?

Your full wedding gallery will be delivered within 6–10 weeks. Each photo is hand edited with care to ensure your images feel polished, natural, and true to your day. Sneak peeks can be shared within a couple of days so you can relive the excitement while you wait.

What is included in your wedding photography packages?

All wedding collections include hourly coverage, unlimited photos taken, professional editing of photos (basic adjustments like color balance, exposure, contrast, etc), online viewing gallery for friends and family, digital download delivery, and printing rights. Some collections include a 2nd photographer and engagement session. Everything is totally customizable to best fit your photo needs and with your budget in mind.

How do we officially book you?

Booking is simple:

  1. We connect to make sure we’re a great fit

  2. We sign a contract

  3. A retainer officially secures your wedding date

From there, I’ll be here to support you in your planning process so you feel prepared leading up to your wedding day.

Why choosing the right wedding photographer matters

Your wedding day goes by quickly—but your photos last forever. Long after the music fades and the flowers are gone, your images will bring you back to the emotions, the laughter, and the love you felt for year to come. Choosing a photographer you're comfortable with is an essential part in telling your wedding day story.
